The primary education in India is divided into two parts, namely Lower Primary (Class I-IV) and Upper Primary (Middle school, Class V-VIII). The Indian government lays emphasis on primary education (Class I-VIII) also referred to as elementary education, to children aged 6 to 14 years old.

Upper primary classes are between 5-7 standards.It will introduce students to the more abstract concepts in subjects of mathematics, sciences, social sciences, arts and humanities

Secondary Stage of education covering 3 years of academic study starts with classes 8th-10th. consisting of students aged between 14-16 years. The purpose of compulsory secondary education is getting students to: acquire basic cultural elements, especially humanistic, artistic, scientific and technological aspects. develop and strengthen their study and work habits. prepare them for further studies

Higher Secondary Education is of only 2 years. Higher Secondary Schools include classes 11th to 12th. consisting students aged between 16-18 years. At this level of education students have the freedom to choose their preferred stream and subjects. They can pursue Commerce, Science. Higher Secondary education helps the students to decide their career path.
